The women’s wing of HBI was formed as part of the Executive Management Committee to look into the needs of the muslimat within the Shia community in Singapore. Fiqh classes which include practical lessons, majalises for muslimat and retreat to Batam Island were organized to equip them with religious knowledge as well as to foster unity and bonding.
Apart from that, on 23rd and 24th of June 2007, HBI’s Women’s Wing organized a communication seminar for families. This seminar was attended by 92 parents and 59 youths. The speakers were Ustaz Hussein Shahab and Ustaz Md Rosli Hassan, both of whom were graduates from the Islamic University in Qom. Participants went home with useful tips on how to interact and communicate effectively with their teenage children.
Every year, the women’s wing will organize the Wiladah of Lady Fatimah Az-Zahra a.s. especially for the muslimat to pay tribute to the iconic personality that should be emulated by all women. During this majalis, congratulatory messages were shared and games were played by both mothers and daughters. Apart from that, the women’s wing of HBI also plays supportive roles in all HBI’s events by selling home-made delicacies as part of HBI’s fund raising effort.
